Down In The Front!: Shannon White

Hi there! My name is Shannon White and I am a new guest blogger on the We Go To Concerts/Dan Goes to Concerts Blog! A huge thanks to Dan for inviting me to join the music blogging experience that he has created! It’s really cool to be asked to do something like this because it really means a lot to have a place where I am considered a reputable show-goer!! Thanks for the support Dan! You’re awesome! Uh, somewhat of an introduction… I have always been into music. There isn’t a time where music wasn’t a huge part of my life. My parents, especially my mom, were incredible influences. Not only did they introduce me to many bands of the late 60s and 70s which spawned some of the most incredible and influential people/artists of rock n roll, but also took me to some of the best shows I have ever been to. Since then I have been consuming every musical genre I can get my hands on. Right now some of my favorite artists are Brothers Osborne, Royal Blood, Houndmouth, and Drake. I’m normally an indie/alternative person but I am also a complete sucker for R&B and my Michael Buble-esque Pandora station. Have suggestions? Let me at ‘Em!!

Royal Blood 9/25/2015
I currently work in what many refer to as ‘the industry’, but to me it’s just my fantastic job. I work for Entercom San Diego, a media company that owns more than 100 radio stations around the country. I have worked here for about 2 and a half years and I think I have almost done every job! I now do Traffic Continuity. I’ve seen many live performances, and counting them seemed daunting. If I had to pick some favorites I would probably say Paul McCartney, Eric Church, AC/DC, and Sandy Parts Festival 2013. I very recently saw Foo Fighters, who are essentially rock gods in their own right. It was a remarkable show and has been one of my favorites this year! Last night I saw Royal Blood, a rock duo from the UK who, in my humble opinion, have the talent to also land into
'rock god’ category,

I hope to update you soon on my most recent shows! Foo Fighters post coming soon I promise! And maybe a little bit of a station promotion from our most recent Indie Jam!!! (I still can't get over the live performance of Silversun Pickups!

Cheers!

Feels Like The First Time: J.P.

Holleratcha music enthusiasts and concert goers! I'm a 24 year old native to southern California and have known our original blogger Mr. Navarro for many a year. In fact he, along with a few others, ignited the torch that I still carry today to seek a variety of new music. His love for characters from Bowie and Ozzy to artists such as Korn and Blue October really illustrate his diverse taste and passion for distinct sounds. He has been an influence to say the least.

Although I have no prejudice against any genre, I typically will be found at some alternative or rock show. My number of live performances attended tallies in the high sixties. I'm the guy who has radio stations set on speed dial to win their contest giveaways. Through the radio alone I've won tickets to Mumford and Sons, Daughtry, KISS FM's Wango Tango event (featuring Calvin Harris, Zedd, Paramore, and Maroon 5 to name a few), as well as the Happy Together Tour (Flo and Eddie from the Turtles and Mickey from the Monkees). I've been to the Grammy Awards show and was fortunate enough to sit as a seat filler directly behind winners Daft Punk and only a few more behind artists like Jay Z and Beyonce. That ceremony and cluster of amazing performances deserves its own story on another day.

Some of my favorite artists include Dispatch, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Beatles. However besides them, a few memorable performances have to go to Cat Empire with Current Swell, Flogging Molly, and Fleetwood Mac.

The most recent performance I've seen was several weeks back by Third Eye Blind and Dashboard Confessional at my local Irvine amphitheater. Yes they're both still around and rocking up a nostalgic storm of goodness. I may or may not have stalked their tour buses coming home late one night before their show with my girlfriend at four in the morning. Anyways, TEB's new album may have a song or two worth checking out, but as always, it's hard for most bands to top the music that made them. Up next will be Cold War Kids and Pepper down in Oceanside, San Diego on October 2nd and I'll be sure to spit out an exciting review soon after. Ciao!

A Concert Going Community

Hi my name is Dan Navarro and I've been writing a blog since February 2015. You can check out what I've put together at DanGoesToConcerts.blogspot.com Starting a blog just made sense. I was already going to concerts, might was well write about them.

In 2013 I had this to say about concerts:
A Concert
A concert is a live celebration of music; which is a celebration of the now, the then, and the future. You've got a million elements to devour into your conscious mind in every moment of the piece. It happens so quickly, moments last for seconds and minutes. But at the end it's an impression of a full production. These are little moments reflected off of centuries of moments. It's a stone in a pond. The stone represents the years packed into a solid piece, and when that solid piece is ready, a careful hand finds it. and it finds itself in it's very first original moment; tossed into the air, causing a splash which ripples it's own influence. As with any moment. Every moment found within the foundation of it's very own stone. The ripple always finding itself coming back to the epicenter caressing the stone with it's remembrance of a moment. The water spreading far and out, into it's own sediment creating it's own time. It's a time to play with your favorite band, it's a time to share with an army of fans. It's a time for nostalgia; the moment when the favorite lyric from the favorite song pour out of your favorite singers mouth. Sometimes it's a time of discovery; the first time your favorite lyrics comes out of your favorite singers mouth, and in that magical moment you don't even know the name of the song. Sometimes it's as socially rewarding, singing along with your new best friend, your new girlfriend, or just a passerby who holds only relevance to that moment. But is to be remembered for the rest of your life.

As I continued to grow and expand my blog, WeGoToConcerts was really something that started making sense to me. Concerts are about everyone, a massive group of people who are enjoying the same thing. I'm going to continue sailing the DanGoesToConcerts ship therefore it is time to broaden the experience and start this collective.

Enjoy!
